Su¡¯a Cravens officially can resume his NFL career.

Two days after applying to be reinstated, the Washington Redskins safety has been removed from the reserve/left squad list. It¡¯s a formality, but also an important step for Cravens, whose football career was in?limbo after he abruptly left the team last September.

But the Cravens saga is far from over.

There still is the question of whether the 22-year-old will be back in Redskins burgundy and gold in 2018.

Citing personal family matters, Cravens abruptly announced he was retiring over Labor Day weekend, but?the Redskins initially thought a brief break from the team would help. However, the organization later felt it was better for all parties involved to place Cravens?¡ª who had walked away from the team late in the 2016 season ¡ª on the?reserve/left squad list.

Now Cravens is clear to play, but the Redskins may choose to move on.

He has three years left on his rookie deal, but Washington could opt to trade him (possibly during the NFL draft) or release him. Naturally, other NFL teams will have questions about Cravens¡¯s commitment. The Redskins also have to consider the likelihood that some of Cravens¡¯s teammates may also have concerns about his dedication to the game.

Mason Foster, who was recently re-signed by the team, said he would gladly welcome back Cravens, whom he likened to his ¡°little brother.¡± But the veteran leader also noted it would be ¡°a work in progress¡± if Cravens returns to the locker room.

¡°For you to work the whole year with us in OTAs, you got a starting spot and all of a sudden you just walk away from it, it¡¯s tough,¡± Foster said Tuesday on The Team980. ¡°Without explaining it to guys on the team, I think some guys are going to feel a certain way. But me, I¡¯m all for him to come back. He¡¯s a great player. He¡¯s made plays here, but I think it¡¯s going to be a work in progress. You¡¯re going to have to come back and show people what you¡¯re made of and show people that your heart is really in it, or I don¡¯t think anybody¡¯s really going to welcome you back in with open arms like that.¡±

Cravens last played a regular season game on Dec. 11, 2016.

He appeared in 11 games as a rookie and recorded 34 tackles, five passes defended, plus one sack and interception.
